The Installation Process

7 Phases. Every Time.
No Shortcuts, No Exceptions.

This is the process we use on every single installation — refined across 1500+ Arizona yards. Nothing is skipped. Nothing is rushed.

01
1Phase 1

Phase 1: Demo & Full Site Prep

We start by completely clearing your existing yard — removing all vegetation, old ground covers, and surface materials down to bare soil. Our team grades the site to the correct slope for drainage, and carefully exposes any underground infrastructure.

Phase 1 — Demo and site preparation
02
2Phase 2

Phase 2: Compacted DG Sub-Base

This is where most budget installers cut corners — and where your lawn's longevity is decided. We spread 2–3 inches of crushed decomposed granite and compact it with a plate compactor, creating a firm, level, drainage-optimized base built specifically for Arizona's caliche and sandy soils.

Phase 2 — Sub-base installation
03
3Phase 3

Phase 3: Turf Layout & Relaxation

Your premium synthetic grass is rolled out and allowed to expand naturally in the Arizona sun for 30–60 minutes. This critical step relaxes the fibers and ensures the turf lays perfectly flat. We position it with careful attention to blade direction and stitch patterns for a seamless, natural appearance.

Phase 3 — Rolling out the new turf
04
4Phase 4

Phase 4: Precision Cutting & Invisible Seams

Our installers precision-cut the turf to fit your exact yard shape — any perimeter, curve, or pattern. We intentionally overcut edges by one inch along borders to allow for clean tucking. Where multiple turf sections meet, we create tight, invisible seams that disappear completely once installation is complete.

Phase 4 — Custom fitting and seaming
05
5Phase 5

Phase 5: Full Perimeter Securing

With the turf properly positioned and cut, we secure the entire perimeter using non-galvanized turf nails or staples placed approximately six inches apart. All edges are carefully tucked and folded for a clean, professional finish. Every border is double-checked for tightness and a natural look.

Phase 5 — Tuck, nail and secure
06
6Phase 6

Phase 6: Infill Application & Power Brushing

Before infill is applied, a power brush raises all turf blades to an upright position. Infill material is then evenly distributed throughout the turf. The infill acts as ballast to hold the turf firmly against the sub-base, and keeps the individual grass blades standing upright for that realistic, lush appearance.

Phase 6 — Infill distribution
07
7Phase 7

Phase 7: Final Grooming, Rinse & Walkthrough

This is the phase most installers rush. We don't. We power-brush the entire surface twice, rinse every inch of the lawn, and walk the finished project with you side by side — pointing out every detail before we consider the job done. We don't leave until you're satisfied.

Phase 7 — Final grooming and inspection
What Sets Us Apart

What You Actually Get
That Other Installers Don't Deliver

A great process is only as good as the team executing it. Here's what separates an Always Green installation from what you'll get from a typical Valley crew.

W-2 Employees. Not Subcontractors.
Every person on your job is a trained, background-checked W-2 employee — not a subcontracted day laborer. Consistent training, consistent results, consistent accountability. Every single time.
Premium UV-Rated Turf
We source only commercial-grade synthetic grass with UV stabilization specifically rated for Arizona's sustained 110°F+ exposure. Not off-the-shelf landscape turf. The real thing — designed to stay vibrant for 15+ years.
One-Day Turnaround
Most Phoenix metro residential installations are complete in a single day. We show up, we work, and we leave you with a finished, inspected lawn — no weeks of disruption.
15-Year Warranty
Every installation is backed by a 15-year product warranty and a workmanship guarantee. If anything isn't right — now or years from now — we come back and make it right. That's not a promise. It's in writing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions About
The Installation Process

Everything you need to know before we arrive at your Phoenix-area home.

Most residential installations in the Phoenix metro area are completed in a single day. Larger projects — full backyards over 2,000 sq ft, multi-zone installs, or commercial properties — may take two days. We'll give you a precise timeline during your on-site estimate.
You don't need to be home throughout the day, but we ask that someone is available at the start to walk through the site with us, and at the end for the final inspection walkthrough. This ensures the completed project matches your vision exactly before we leave.
During Phase 1, we carefully expose and map all underground irrigation lines. Existing irrigation is typically capped off or removed since artificial turf requires no watering. If you have trees, garden beds, or other planted areas nearby that still need irrigation, we'll work around those systems to preserve them.
Arizona's caliche layer is notoriously hard and can block drainage. Our Phase 2 sub-base system addresses this directly — we break through the caliche where necessary and install a properly graded decomposed granite base that channels water away efficiently, even during monsoon storms. Proper drainage is non-negotiable in our installs.
Absolutely. Our Phase 4 custom fitting step is designed specifically for complex yards. We precision-cut turf to fit around pool decks, tree root zones, paver borders, raised planters, and any other landscaping features. The result looks intentional, clean, and completely natural.
Synthetic turf can heat up in direct summer sun — it's a common question for Arizona homeowners. We address this through our infill selection. We offer heat-reduction infill options including coated sand and organic infills that significantly reduce surface temperature. Many homeowners also mist the turf briefly before outdoor activities, which drops the temperature quickly. We'll recommend the right infill for your specific sun exposure during the estimate.
